Climate Change
Climate change effects
Extensive climate change modelling has revealed that the East of England will experience warmer wetter winters and hotter dryer summers, leading to increasing water shortages in the summer and more frequent flooding in the winter. In addition, the region will continue to lose valuable land to the sea.
Under the Kyoto protocol the UK Government is committed to reducing the levels of carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases by 12.5% below 1990 levels by 2008 to 2012. For more details on carbon reduction click here.
